Two people suffered injuries in an explosion and fire at a defense technology manufacturing plant in southern Arkansas.

A report of a possible explosion at Esterline Defense Technologies came in just before 7 p.m. Monday, said Ron Nash, assistant chief of the Camden, AR, fire department.

Nash said the blast affected only one building and firefighters were able to contain the blaze last Monday.

He said two people suffered injuries, but it was not immediately clear if they were employees. Nash didn’t know the extent of their injuries, but they did go to the hospital.

Esterline’s website said the Camden plant manufactures infrared decoy flares, which can protect aircraft from heat-seeking missiles.

Company officials were not immediately available for comment.
