Ammonia Leak Forces Evac in AZ

HazMat crews work out a plan after an ammonia leak at Rousseau Farming.

An ammonia leak at the Rousseau Farming facility led to evacuations in Tolleson, AZ, early Monday morning, fire officials said.

Several crews were dispatched to Rousseau Farming for a hazmat situation just before 6:30 a.m., said Chief George Good with Tolleson fire.

Chief Good said they evacuated 92nd Avenue to 95th Avenue on Harrison Street due to the winds.

Some residents complained of watery eyes but no one has been treated or transported, Good said.

Firefighters were investigating the source of the leak and do not know whether it involves businesses or homes at this time.
