BC LNG Facility Blast Injures Worker

An investigation is underway at a Delta, British Columbia, LNG facility after a worker suffered an injury after an explosion this past weekend.

Flames were seen shooting three stories into the air after a blast that officials said started in the refrigeration unit of the Tilbury LNG plant on Sunday.

Fortis BC, which owns the plant, said its fire detection and suppression equipment worked to contain the fire.

A subcontractor suffered an injury in the incident, but has since been released from hospital.

Fortis is now carrying out an internal investigation.
