Chemical Blast Injures Worker

A chemical explosion at a manufacturing plant in southwest Ohio left one worker injured.

Fire and police officials in Monroe say the explosion at Alfrebro LLC occurred Friday afternoon. The worker suffered burns to his face and neck and ended up flown to a hospital in Dayton, said Monroe fire Chief John Centers. The worker’s condition is unknown.

The explosion occurred as the worker was transferring a chemical from a 55-gallon drum into a larger container, Centers said. He doesn’t know the cause of the blast.

Alfrebro was not immediately available for comment.

The company’s website said the company manufactures natural and synthetic aroma chemicals, extracts and distillates.
