Fire at IMAX Industries’ OH Plant

There were no injuries in a manufacturing plant fire Sunday in Painesville, OH.

Painesville Fire Department got the call at 6:04 p.m. at IMAX Industries, said Fire Chief Mark Mlachak. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found smoke coming from the roof opening of the plant.

Mlachak said the fire was quickly extinguished with minimal damage to the plant. An investigation found the fire to be centralized around a container of metal shavings and filter papers.

The chief said the cause was determined to be pyrolysis of dissimilar metals.

Assisting on scene were Painesville Township, Concord Township and Fairport Harbor fire departments.
