Fire, Blast at MO Recycling Center

Firefighters work to extinguish a fire at the Triple R Recycling building in South Tyler, MO.

There was a large fire at the Triple R Recycling building in the 500 block of South Tyler, MO, officials said.

Firefighters responded to the call at 9:41 Wednesday night for heavy smoke and fire in the north building of the facility.

Crews used a defensive attack from the south building to keep the fire from spreading. A ladder truck was also in action in an effort to attack the blaze from the top.

Multiple explosions were heard and felt, likely from aluminum powder in the building.

Crews are expected to be on scene for a few more hours overnight. There were no injuries in the incident.

The cause of the fire was not immediately available.
