Firefighters got the call to the manufacturing plant at 1901 Industrial Drive around 9:27 a.m. Friday. The fire started in and was contained to the casting area of the plant, which is at the rear of the building, fire officials said.

The casting area is where workers pour hot aluminum into molds.

As a result of the fire, all employees evacuated from the building. Three contractors ended up evaluated by Hanco Ambulance personnel for smoke inhalation, fire officials said.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze fairly quickly, the department said, but firefighters had to check to make sure the fire did not spread.

A challenge in battling the blaze was working above the machinery. Some aluminum shavings in the casting area caught fire and water could not be used on the combustible materials, fire officials said.

Nissin Brake employees returned to work later Friday afternoon, though the casting area remained closed down.
