The sensor, part of the fuel management system of new large-frame gas turbine engines, is the first Woodward product to meet SIL standards from exida certification.

An extensive certification process included failure modes, effects, and diagnostic analysis (FMEDA).

Terry Mize, Woodward’s system engineer for gas turbine fuel management systems, said the certification will assure Woodward customers of the sensor’s reliable performance during the light-off sequence and normal operation of their gas turbines during the life of the system.
