Food Plant Chemical Spill Injures 15

A chemical spill at a Southern California canning factory sent 15 people to the hospital, but no one suffered serious injuries.
The Riverside County Fire Department said a forklift was loading a concentrated cleaning acid on to a dock at a Starkist Foods facility in Eastvale, CA, Thursday. One of the forklift arms pierced a plastic container and about 40 gallons spilled.
Fifteen workers ended up taken to hospitals with inhalation problems. Four of them had moderate injuries, 11 of them minor.
The spill ended up contained about three hours after it happened.
