Functional safety products, services, and certification provider, exida, released V3.0 of its exSILentia functional safety lifecycle engineering tool.
The enhancements allow users to follow the entire functional safety lifecycle for the first time using a single tool. Improvements include a Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), expanded ability to import PHA results, automatic generation of proof test specifications, lifecycle cost evaluator, failure data collection / evaluation, and a checklist to show compliance with the IEC 61511 / ISA 84 standard.
A new GUI, the ability to specify Partial Stroke Test intervals, MooN (M out of N) architectures for Safety Instrumented Functions and risk graph and frequency based SIL targets round out the enhancements to the tool’s existing Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Selection, SIL Verification and Safety Requirement Specification (SRS).
“exSILentia V3.0 will help users achieve a new level of consistency and productivity in the design of their Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS),” said exida Director of Engineering Iwan van Beurden. “A single tool for the whole safety lifecycle reduces total cost of ownership and helps ensure SIS applications are neither over- nor under-designed.”
