The building was evacuated with no injuries, according to the Salinas firefighters social media post.

There was no threat to the public, firefighters said.

The situation arose because some chemicals mixed, causing gases and making the mixture possibly flammable, said Salinas Fire Chief Jeff Johnson.

At 11 a.m., firefighters had cleaned up several spilled 55-gallon drums.

Seaside Fire Department firefighters assisted Salinas’ fire crews.
