Marathon Petroleum Corp. (MPC) reported a leak from a piece of equipment at its Blanchard Refining Galveston Bay refinery, but said it has been isolated.

“A leak was discovered at the CFHU,” said officials at the 450,000-barrel-a-day refinery outside Houston.

The CFHU is the Cat Feed Hydrotreating Unit, which removes sulfur and nitrogen from gas oil that is used to make gasoline.

The “leak was isolated and the unit equipment was deinventoried,” officials said.

In its filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the refinery said the leak also led to emissions that ended Thursday.
