Microsoft has a new security feature for Windows 10 that advances Windows Defender’s capabilities.

Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection can detect, investigate, and respond to threats to a network, offering more security features but also more information to help deal with every attack and make the right choice when it comes to blocking them.

“Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection provides a new post-breach layer of protection to the Windows 10 security stack. With a combination of client technology built into Windows 10 and a robust cloud service, it will help detect threats that have made it past other defenses, provide enterprises with information to investigate the breach across endpoints, and offer response recommendations,” said Terry Myerson, head of the operating systems group at Microsoft.

Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection relies on cloud security analytics, threat intelligence, and information collected from the web to help detect threats, Microsoft officials said.

It can also investigate alerts and explore the whole network for signs of attacks while also providing advanced tools to stay up to date and reduce costs.

A cloud-based backend provides instant access to all its efforts, Microsoft said. Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection comes to complement email protection services from Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection and Microsoft Advanced Threat Analytics.

Over 500,000 systems have already tried this new tool, Myerson said.
