The well site is 11 miles north of Belfield and 7 miles west of Highway 85.

The worker’s body ended up discovered after firefighters extinguished the blaze, said a Billings County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson.

First responders got a call about an explosion 15 minutes before the call about the fire.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating whether there were any health or safety violations that contributed the incident.

The probe, OSHA officials said, could take up to six months to complete.

Enduro Operating owns and operates the site.

A treater shack houses equipment that separates oil, water and gas.

The state’s fire marshal is also looking into the incident but declined comment because the investigation is ongoing.
