There were two spills last week at locations in Williams and Dunn counties in North Dakota, officials said.

Enduro Operating LLC reported Wednesday that a fire caused an estimated 460 barrels of saltwater to release at a saltwater disposal well about 7 miles southeast Wildrose in Williams County, said officials at the North Dakota Oil and Gas Division. The company estimates 460 barrels of saltwater ended up recovered on site.

In another incident, Burlington Resources Oil & Gas Co. reported an uncontrolled release of an estimated 300 barrels of produced fluid at an oil well site about 13 miles north of Killdeer on Tuesday. The fluid ended up diverted to pipelines and routed to production facilities at the central tank battery. The well was under control Wednesday evening.

The cause of the release was a valve failure during an adjacent hydraulic fracturing operation.

A state inspector has been to the locations and will continue to monitor the additional clean-up, the division said.
