The cause of the release was the overflow of a tank during a flooding event and 50 to 75 barrels of oil released (2,100 to 3,150 gallons), Chabert said.

Gauge Energy LLC reported the spill last Friday.

Chabert said state agencies are involved in the response and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries is among those on site.

Chabert said OMI is conducting the cleanup. A boom and the levee have contained the spill.

The impacted area is a flooded agriculture field on the inside of the mainline Mississippi River levee.

Chabert said the landowner is aware of the spill.
