The Oyster Creek Generating Station resumed full-power operations after technicians successfully completed repairs on a system that regulates pressure to the steam turbines, plant officials said.

The plant, located in Lacey Township, Ocean County, near the New Jersey Shore, had been offline since Dec. 14 after control room operators manually shut down the reactor in response to increasing reactor pressure, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) said.

At the time of the shutdown, workers were conducting turbine valve testing on the plant, the NRC said.

Workers could not fix the issue while the plant was generating electricity, said Suzanne D’Ambrosio, plant spokeswoman. Staff also performed additional maintenance work to “keep the unit operating reliably and efficiently.”
