A rubber manufacturing plant in North Canton, OH, ended up completely destroyed in a large fire Tuesday morning.

The structure is a total loss, fire officials said. Six fire departments, including Jackson Township, responded to battle the fire at Tristan Rubber Molding.

Employees called the fire department just before 9 a.m. saying there was a fire in one of the walls but they were able to put it out.

By the time Jackson Township fire crews got there though, the fire had spread and flames were shooting through the roof.

Employees at the scene said there were 18 workers in the building when it caught fire and all were able to make it out without injury.

Ron Canterbury, vice president of manufacturing for Tristan Rubber Molding said 40 people worked in the building.

“We are going to move forward and re-build,” he said. “We are going to take care of all of our employees in the process.”

Tristan Rubber Molding has been at the same location in North Canton for 22 years. The company manufactures the inside mold of tires.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the blaze.
