Woodward gets Functional Safety Cert.

Woodward, Inc.’s LSOV25 Liquid Fuel Shutoff Valve gained certification for functional safety, ensuring it meets the functional safety requirements for Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 2 capability per IEC 61508: 2010.

Woodward earned the certification from functional safety certification provider, exida.

“Woodward has a strong development process which is necessary to achieve this high level of design quality needed for functional safety,” said Chris O’Brien, exida evaluating assessor.

“An extensive certification process that included a Failure Modes, Effects and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA) and complete IEC 61508 safety case was completed reaffirming their capabilities,” O’Brien said.

“exida’s in-depth technical expertise guided us through this complex standard,” said Wade Burdick, Woodward’s product manager.

“Completing their rigorous program and earning this certification provides additional product confidence to our customers,” Burdick said.
