Worker Hurt in Machine Blast

A manufacturing plant worker suffered injuries in an explosion Monday morning, said officials at the Rockledge, FL, Fire Department.

Fire officials said a piece of machinery blew up in the worker’s face at the LRM Industries International, Inc. plant on Gus Hipp Boulevard in Rockledge.

The worker, who was not identified, ended up transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

The blast also ignited a fire in the manufacturing plant, but firefighters extinguished it a short time later.

There was still hot plastic melting onto the ground when fire crews arrived at the plant.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
