Worker Trapped in Processing Equipment

A worker at the Eatem Foods Company plant in Vineland, NJ, received injuries to a hand and arm Sunday after becoming caught in a piece of food processing equipment.

Responding to the plant at about 8:45 a.m., fire crews worked for an hour to free the man’s arm from “auger-type” equipment.

The machinery had to be partially disassembled to remove the worker.

The 31-year-old employee was transported to an area hospital to undergo treatment for his injuries.

Officials got word the Millville, NJ, man will be able to keep his arm following a series of surgeries.

Owned by American agribusiness Archer Daniels Midland, Eatem Foods is a supplier of soup and sauce concentrates, flavor products, and food bases.
