Fatal Incident at CO Door Maker

An industrial incident at Sun Mountain Custom Doors facility in Johnstown, CO, left a 54-year-old Milliken man dead, officials said.

Steven Verle Deniston died after he was struck in the chest by a piece of wood thrown from a machine at the Johnstown facility Tuesday afternoon, said officials at the Weld County Coroner’s office.

He was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The incident remains under investigation by local authorities and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

The manner and cause of death await autopsy and laboratory reports.

Sun Mountain Custom Doors, founded in 1998, manufactures doors and wood plank flooring at its 105,000 square-foot facility located off Interstate 25 and County Road 48 in Johnstown.
