A Mt. Pleasant Township, PA, plastics company sustained $45,000 in damage Saturday night after a fire destroyed an addition to the structure, fire officials said.

The fire at C-K Composites LLC of 361 Bridgeport St., destroyed a wooden structure adjacent to the concrete block building, said Mt. Pleasant Fire Chief Jerry Lucia.

The structure held a fork lift and other tools for the company, Lucia said.

The fire, which was reported at about 9:45 p.m., was contained to the exterior structure, but heavy smoke poured into the interior when a window blew out from the heat of the fire, Lucia said. The fire was extinguished at 10:10 p.m. and the inside of the building was vented to remove the smoke.

No one was working at the plant at the time of the fire, Lucia said.

C-K Composites makes fiberglass wound components, molded and cast components from specialized epoxy resins and laminated wood components, according to its website.

Company officials could not be reached for comment. Managers and maintenance employees were at the scene of the fire Saturday night, Lucia said.

The cause of the fire will be investigated by insurance company representatives, Lucia said.
