In what seems to occur on a fairly frequent basis, a construction crew ruptured a gas line in La Crescenta, CA, last Monday.

That gas leak forced mandatory evacuations of about 150 homes as crews worked to stop the leak and repair the line.

The leak was reported about 1:35 p.m. in the 5000 block of La Crescenta Avenue, north of the Foothill (210) Freeway, authorities said.

Two blocks to the north and south and a block to the east and west of the location ended up evacuated, with about 150 homes affected, according to officials at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Crescenta Valley Station.

Southern California Gas Co. personnel called to the scene estimated it would take two to four hours to make repairs.
