Temperature and gas sensing solution provider LumaSense Technologies Inc. acquired Buellton, CA-based InfraredVision Technology Corp. (ITC) from L-3 Communications.

ITC produces Vanadium Oxide (VOx) microbolometer detectors, which see use in thermal imaging systems such as infrared cameras. The pact gives LumaSense additional capabilities to build complete thermal-imaging packages to improve efficiency, quality and safety in energy, emissions and industrial applications.

The goal is for LumaSense to offer a greater degree of precision and repeatability in thermal imaging equipment by controlling all aspects of the system. LumaSense will retain all of ITC’s employees, who will remain located at the company’s Buellton facilities.

“Welcoming ITC gives us greater flexibility and control in designing thermal imaging solutions that meet our customers’ individual needs,” said Vivek Joshi, LumaSense chief executive.

LumaSense’s technology portfolio includes sensors and cameras that monitor temperature and gas emissions in markets such as energy, industrial, and clean technology.

Terms of the deal were not immediately available.
