Oil Tank Fire at OH Cargill Corn Plant

There was a fire inside an oil tank at the Cargill corn milling plant in Dayton, OH, Wednesday morning, fire officials said.

Hazmat teams and fire crews were sent to the scene at about 7:10 a.m., but did not observe smoke or fire when they arrived, officials said.

The fire ended up contained to a 210 gallon oil tank that was believed to be mostly empty, officials said.

Firefighters used foam to fight the blaze, officials said.

There were no injuries in the incident.

Cargill Corn Milling is a subsidiary of Cargill, a developer, processor and marketer of science-based ingredients for food and dietary supplements worldwide. The company produces and distributes crop nutrients and feed ingredients to farmers, livestock producers and animal feeders. It originates and processes grain, oilseeds and other agricultural commodities for distribution to makers of food, feed and other products.
