South Dakota is one case in point as it just signed a workplace safety alliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
OSHA’s Sioux Falls office and the South Dakota Safety Council earlier this month signed a two-year alliance to proactively address safety issues related to heat, fall prevention, powered industrial vehicles and trench safety.
In addition, OSHA and the South Dakota Safety Council will organize and co-host an event to honor Worker Memorial Day in April next year.
The OSHA Alliance Program enables organizations to enter voluntarily into a cooperative relationship to raise awareness of OSHA’s initiatives, outreach, communications, training and education.
“OSHA and the South Dakota Safety Council are committed to providing members with information, guidance and access to training resources to develop safety programs that prevent workplace injuries in the most dangerous occupations,” said OSHA’s Regional Administrator Jennifer Rous in Denver. “The South Dakota Safety Council is a tremendous ally in promoting safety and health programs with the state’s employers to protect their workers.”
