Cyber security is making inroads in the automation industry as industry research firm Frost & Sullivan awarded Byres Security Inc. its 2010 World Customer Value Enhancement Award in Industrial Network Security Solutions.
The award recognizes the Tofino Industrial Security Solution in the network security market. Frost & Sullivan said Tofino addresses the need for a “robust, flexible security solution that keeps industrial networks simple, threat-proof, highly scalable and easily managed.
“This award is a testament to the approach we took with Tofino,” said Eric Byres, CTO at Byres Security during a press conference at ABB Automation & Power World in Houston, Texas Wednesday. “We designed it from the ground up to meet the needs of the industry.”
This award has the potential to be given out once a year, but to win it, the recipient must meet certain requirements. If no one meets those requirements, Frost & Sullivan will not name a winner. No one won the award last year.
