Valero Energy Corp. reported a small leak and gas emissions Monday at its Three Rivers refinery in south Texas.

The refinery said a leak developed on half-inch tubing and they said a unit was shut down to block the tubing and halt the leak, according to a statement on the website of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

The incident happened Saturday and led to emissions of some 200 pounds of hydrogen sulfide that lasted six hours.

The refinery noted in Monday’s statement that it also made an earlier notification to the regulatory agency within the 24-hour filing requirement period, but did so by fax since the agency website was shut for maintenance.

The 90,000-barrel-a-day Three Rivers refinery is located halfway between Corpus Christi and San Antonio, in the heart of the Eagle Ford Shale production region.
