Waskom, TX, Gas Plant Evacuated

The Sunoco gas plant in Waskom, TX, evacuated Thursday evening after a propane leak, officials said.

“A shut down crew has closed all of the leaking areas,” Harrison County Administrative Lt. Jay Webb said. “It is now deemed safe.”

The incident occurred at 5:30 p.m., officials said.

The plant is about a quarter mile south of I-20 on Hwy. 9. No further evacuations are necessary, Webb said.

There were no injuries in the incident.

This past April, Energy Transfer Partners and Sunoco Logistics Partners closed on their previously announced merger. The combined company is now called Energy Transfer Partners.
