Worker Dies in Confined Space Incident

A worker died after being trapped in a confined space at a Dubuque, Iowa, water supplier Thursday, officials said.

Dennis A. Hall, 46, suffered fatal injuries during an accident at A.Y. McDonald. He died at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque from his injuries. He worked at A.Y. McDonald for five years.

Officials got the call to A.Y. McDonald on Chavenelle Road around 8:25 a.m. They said the call was for “entrapment in a confined space.”

When crews arrived at the scene, Dubuque Fire Chief Rick Steins said the man wasn’t trapped anymore but was taken to a local hospital for injuries.

A.Y. McDonald Mfg. Co. is a manufacturer of water works brass, plumbing valves, pumps and water systems, and high pressure gas valves and meter bars. The company has been around since 1856.
