A fire broke out at a recycling center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas last week that ended up taking firefighters over 12 hours to get under control.

Pine Bluff Fire & Emergency Services firefighters got the call Wednesday, September 16 at 10 p.m. to the recycling center on Sixth Avenue across from Central Moloney.

The fire ended up contained Thursday morning, Sept. 17, but firefighters remained at the scene working from several angles to extinguish the remaining flames.

“We have it contained, but the fire is still ongoing,” said Pine Bluff Fire & Emergency Services Public Information Specialist John Worthen. “It will take time and a lot of water to get the fire out.”

It appears the fire started after several large piles of scrap wood from pallets caught fire near an incinerator.
